Tribal Administration Buildings to Close to Help Slow Spread of COVID-19; Services Will Continue

Dear Tribal Community,

Two more employees who work in Tribal Administration buildings have tested positive for COVID-19.

One employee assisted at Grandview’s Halloween event on Oct. 28. The other employee helped at the Tribe’s Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 29.

We have encouraged people in the Tribal community to monitor for COVID-like symptoms and to seek testing if they have them, and this week’s number of cases confirms that the precautions we have taken are well-justified.

Tribal government buildings to close; services will continue

We are taking a further proactive approach against COVID-19. All Tribal Government buildings will close from Nov. 9 through Nov. 13 to help slow the spread. Access by employees will be limited.

As with previous closures, we must continue services to the Membership, so departments need to stay open and employees will be expected to telework. Paid administrative leave is provided for those unable to telework, with supervisory approval.

The Tribe has taken numerous measures to ensure the safety of our employees during the coronavirus outbreak, including encouraging teleworking for positions that allow, implementing social distancing, installing Plexiglas barriers, remodeling building entries, and conducting regular cleaning and disinfection of buildings.

You can learn more about steps you can take to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 on our website:http://puyallup-tribe.com/COVID19/covid.php.

You can also find a list of mobile testing clinics on Pierce County Emergency Management’s website: https://www.piercecountywa.gov/6758/Covid-19-Mobile-Testing.

Stay well. Stay safe.
