Today, Sylvia Miller, Anna Bean and Fred Dillon took the oath of office for Puyallup Tribal Council. The ceremony took place at the entrance to the I-5 Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma. Miller and Bean won re-election. Dillon won a seat that was previously held by David Z. Bean, who did not seek re-election. Following the ceremony, Tribal Council held its first meeting and nominated Bill Sterud and Sylvia Miller to continue to serve as chairman and vice chairwoman.

Puyallup Tribal Members and family are invited to witness the swearing-in of the 2021 Tribal Council General Election winners at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 10. The event will take place outside the main entrance of the Tacoma Emerald Queen Casino, in front of the Bone Games mural. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it is recommended to watch the event online. Visit https://www.PuyallupTribe-nsn.gov to find the event. In-person attendees should arrive at least 15 minutes early, wear a mask and are highly encouraged to practice social distancing.

The Tribal Council Primary Election will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Chief Leschi Schools. The Election Board has released a map of the no-campaign zone, and is announcing the following COVID-19 safety precautions and guidelines: Social distancing will be in place throughout the election process.Masks and temperature checks will be required for entry to the polling place.Candidates will be responsible for limiting gatherings at their respective campaign zones to no more than 10 people at a time.Masks are required in candidate campaign zones as well.
