Food distribution set for June 30 at Firecracker Alley, and new July schedule announced

The Puyallup Tribe will hold a drive-thru food bank from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Firecracker Alley, 2102 Alexander Ave., Tacoma.

After that, the event returns to the former Emerald Queen Casino Event Tent on July 10, and will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every other Friday.    

This program, which is a partnership with Emergency Food Network, is open to the Tribe’s members, community, and neighbors.

Because the schedule was changed to accommodate the July 3 Tribal holiday, some earlier announced dates are no longer valid. The new dates will be: July 10 and July 24. As always, watch for updates.

Distribution will be drive-up:

•Write down your name and size of your family on a piece of paper.

•Come in through the valet parking lane.

•To maintain social distancing, don’t roll your window down – just show the paper to staff. They’ll send you forward.

•If you have an automatic trunk, open it and staff will load the food.

•If you don’t have an automatic trunk, staff will put the food on a table and then go inside for you to load.

Elders who have difficulty driving or don’t have transportation may call the Elders Department at 253-680-5480 to arrange for food to be delivered.
