Lummi Totem Pole Journey

June 12, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

free

The Lummi Nation invites your participation in a gathering dedicated to the vision of Qwe lhol mechen, the Lummi word for killer whale which translates to “our people that live under the sea”. It is part of our Xa Xalh Xechnging (“sacred obligation”) to bring home from Miami Seaquarium the captive killer whale Tokitae and return her to her family.

The Puyallup Tribe is graciously hosting the Totem Pole Journey stop in Tacoma. In addition to supporting Lummi Nation’s efforts for orca recovery, we will also stand with the Puyallup in their resistance to the fracked gas (LNG) plant being built in violation of the Medicine Creek Treaty. A meal will be provided at 5:30 and the program will start at 6pm. Parking is available and we will be outside by the water at the Port so please dress for the weather.
