10th annual Helping the Homeless event takes place at Tribal Administration on Saturday
TACOMA, Wash. – The Puyallup Tribe will hold its 10th annual Helping the Homeless event at 10 a.m. Dec. 14. The giveaway will take place in the parking lot of the Tribe’s Administration Building on Portland Avenue in Tacoma.
Puyallup Tribal Councilmember Sylvia Miller has taken the lead on the giveaway event for the area’s homeless population for the past nine years.
“This is about giving to people in need,” Miller said. “It’s good to give. And it’s good to take, if you are in need. Don’t be ashamed. We’ve all been there – I had Christmases getting puzzles that didn’t have all the pieces. Your kids need a Christmas. Or you need warm clothing.”
The event is free and open to the Tribal and non-Tribal community. News media are invited to cover the event.
Lend your support Community members are invited to help support the giveaway by donating new and used clothing, sleeping bags, blankets, and socks. Items will be accepted through Friday at the Puyallup Tribe Administration Building. Volunteers are also needed.
