The climate crisis is placing our generation’s survival is at stake, but the political establishment is asleep at the wheel.

Scientists tell us that we only have 11 years left to transform our entire economy in order to avoid climate catastrophe. The projections grow more urgent every day as floods, storms, and heatwaves hurt people and ravage the places we love.
But instead of taking action at the scale that this crisis demands, politicians in Washington have lined their pockets with handouts from the same fossil fuel executives and lobbyists that began forging doubt around climate science nearly forty years ago.

Due to decades of greed and corruption from just a handful of fossil fuel billionaires, we’re strides behind where we need to be on our climate action timeline. Now is our last best chance to wake politicians up and force them to take action before it’s too late.

On Sept. 20 young people took to the streets in record number to disrupt business-as-usual and push world leaders to take this crisis as seriously as science and justice demand. In Tacoma, you helped in having one of the largest mobilizations of young people in the City’s history and made the people in power pay attention. But our fight doesn’t end there.

We are striking again Dec. 6 in order to continue pressuring politicians to take firm action on the climate crisis. Mass mobilization works because it makes it impossible for governments to function without tackling the societal crisis at hand.
